Annual Social Function

The Students’ Union organizes an Annual Social Function in November of every year. The Students of the college perform Cultural Activities here. Annual prize distribution ceremony is also held during that time. Renowned artists perform there. Not only the college staff and students, local inhabitants also come to join the function and make it a grand success.

Cultural Activities:

The Students’ Union organizes cultural competition during August/ September of every year. College students from all streams compete in songs, recitation and quiz competitions.

Sports and Games

Students with interest in games and sports participate in the following events by which a section of them can have an exposure to District and State Level.
Female students can participate in Kho-Kho, Kadaddi, Table Tennis, Athletics and Carom.
A Football Coach, appointed by the college, trains our football team regularly. The teacher of the Department of Physical Education provides coaching to Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Athletics Team.

Commemorative Events

The Covid-19 Pandemic was first confirmed in West Bengal on 17th March 2020 and to curb the spread of the pandemic the Government of West Bengal announced an official lockdown from the date mentioned above. Naturally, the regular functions of Dhruba Chand Halder College, Dakshin Barasat, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, like any other institution came to a grinding halt.

Like every year, the College celebrated Independence Day on Campus on 15th August 2020 but with a few local students hoisting flags and garlanding our great freedom fighters. Later on, faculty members of the college celebrated Independence Day on a virtual platform through the Principal’s speech and reminiscing about great freedom fighters.

The College observes the birth anniversary of its founder Dr, Dhruba Chand Halder every year, by organizing a commemorative lecture. This year had been no exception.

The college also celebrated Republic Day with a few local students, faculty members, and the Principal of the College following the Covid protocol. The National flag was hoisted and the National anthem was sung by all the faculty members and students present there. This occasion was also celebrated later virtually with great joy and pride by all the faculty members of the college to pay homage to the great leaders who made this Nation, the Nation of the people.

Dhruba Chand Halder College also celebrated Rabindra Jayanti, an annual cultural festival in remembrance of the birth anniversary of the great poet, playwright, novelist, and scholar Rabindranath whose birth anniversary falls on the 25th Day of Baishakh or Pochishe Baishakh as per the Bengali Calendar. The college, to raise awareness about the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of humanity observed the International Yoga Day on 21 June 2021.
