The Department of Physics at Dhruba Chand Halder College is a dynamic and evolving academic community dedicated to the effective teaching and dissemination of physics knowledge. Since 1981, physics has been offered as a B.Sc. General course under Calcutta University. In 2013, the department proudly introduced the Physics Honours program, marking a significant milestone in its academic journey.

This achievement was made possible through the dedication and vision of our faculty, who have worked tirelessly to establish a fully-equipped Honours department. Modern laboratories, smart classrooms, and advanced teaching setups have been developed to enhance student learning and research opportunities. The department also maintains a dedicated library, complementing the central college library, stocked with a rich collection of textbooks and reference materials.
