About Physics Department


The Department of Physics in Dhruba Chand Halder college is a growing organization focusing on the impartment of physics knowledge with efficient teaching skills.
From 1985, B.Sc Physics as a general paper was taught under Calcutta University. From 2013,
The Physics Honours course was introduced in 2013.
To establish  a new setup for Physics Honours Course was a tedious job.
The contribution behind this challenging job of setting a well-equipped Honours department goes to all the faculties of Physics department.
New laboratories and smart class rooms with modern setup was developed to facilitate the students.
There is a departmental library, in addition to the central library of the college. The books are a good mix of text and reference books.
The Honours department grew to full efficiency taking up the challenges and is providing good academic result and as well as excellent academic environment.


Vision:


1. To create the consciousness about the fundamental concepts and competency among the students by providing the essential scientific knowledge and skills, so as to be able to become well-educated and successful in their chosen profession.
2. Impart high quality education in a vibrant academic ambience.
3. Prepare students to take up challenges as researchers in academic and R & D organizations.
4. To encourage students for participation in multidimensional academic activities.
5. To impart scientific knowledge and inculcate human values.



Activities:


1. The students actively participate in the Quiz Competitions, different Social Welfare and Awareness Programs, Seminars, etc.
2. The students publish departmental wall magazine. (To View the Image, Click Here).
3. The students also participate in extracurricular activities like sports, social functions, health check-up camps, etc.
4. Many of students participate in different cultural activities.


Achievements:


1. One of our 1st batch student (Soumen Mondal)completed his Master degree from IIT (Bhubaneswar). He succeeded in NET. He also taught our students as a college paid lecturer.
2. Many of Our students persue M.Sc. at University of Calcutta and at Diamondharbour Women's University.
3. One of our 3rd batch Student (Debojyoti Roychowdhury) is continuing his studies at IIT (Dhanbad). He scored 72% marks in B.Sc. He scored 9.79 SGPA, 9.81 OGPA at SEM-2, M.Sc. Examination.
4. Laboratory Equipments for all the experiments have been setup.
5. The departmental computer Lab. possesses 10 desktop computers with internet facilities a, two laptops and 2 Laser printers.
